Here's a good book on voter suppression: Stealing Democracy by Spencer Ovterton. http://www.stealingdemocracy.com/
For examples of voter suppression, check out http://www.democracynow.org/2006/11/6/voter_suppression_in_midterm_elections_robocalls
Make sure you're registered to vote! States have been conducting "purges" to get deceased people, people who are no longer voting, and old addresses of people who voted off the record. Unfortunately, they're kicking off fully registered people, too- you could have voted for 75 yrs and suddenly find yourself off the ballot. Also, you can vote absentee FOR ANY REASON- just go to your state government website or official state website and find out the requirements.
