What's the last known status? The VA relaxed its positions somewhat on September 8, but as the articles explain there are still issues. Senators Dianne Feinstein and John Kerry have introduced the Veteran Voting Support Act (S. 3308) that would require the VA to allow nonpartisan voter registration drives and comply with states requests to the the VA to offer voter registration at its facilities. At a hearing on September 15, Paul Hutter (General Counsel of the VA) agreed to work with Feinstein and others on the wording of the legislation.
What actions can be taken?

ACORN, which is accused of all kinds of voter fraud is supposedly out there helping to get minorities registered, but then the VA is blocking voter registration for wounded (disabled) vets in VA facilities? What a messed up country! What group would be more in need of someone coming to register them then disabled veterans? Really, anyone who is disabled or in a nursing home or physical rehab. facility should be given this consideration.
